How to Decorate Your Fence

Fence

Fences provide a great opportunity to decorate your outdoor space!

Fences can have a number of benefits. Perhaps you want a privacy fence to keep out the gaze of peering neighbors or maybe you just want your dog to be able to enjoy your backyard without having to worry. Your fences don’t have to be all buttoned-down and professional though–you can have some fun with it! If decorated properly, your fences can actually be a really beautiful addition to your home. There are a number of ways to decorate fences that range from simplicity, like painting a picket fence white, to much more complex options. Here are some of our favorite ways to decorate fences.

Going Green

Plants can be one of the best ways to spruce up your fence. By planting the correct plants, like long-blooming perennials or bushes such as rose of sharon, you can make a huge difference in what your fence brings to your space. This isn’t the only way to bring plant life into your space though. You can also install vertical planters onto the fence itself, which is a great space-saving idea that will maximize what you can do with your garden. You can even get creative and mix and match hanging pots and different kinds of planters!

Recycled Items

If you’re looking for a way to reuse your old unwanted belongings, they may have a place on your fence. Old mason jars can be filled with bright fairy lights to give some whimsy to fences. You can also use something like old silver trays or plates to add some texture and different colors. Gather up those old rain boots and put them to use! Don’t be afraid to get creative. Whatever old items you may have that are colorful and can add some texture to your fence are a possibility, as long as they can withstand the outdoor environment and you think they look good.

Using Art

There are a few different kinds of art you can utilize here. This includes having a mural painted on your fence. This is really your chance to shine or let an artist you appreciate shine. Recycled art can also be great and works well with wooden fences, plus you can get your children in on the action as well and create pieces of art together that will be a constant reminder of your fun times.
