Paint Colors You Could Try in Dark Rooms of Your House

Today, we’ll be helping you decide what paint colors you should use in dark rooms of your home.

Are you looking to get the interior of your home painted? If so, you’ll have to decide what colors to paint the different surfaces of each room. Some rooms receive plenty of natural light, but there are other rooms that might not have that luxury, and it can be difficult determining which colors are best to use in these darker spaces. That’s why, today, we’ll be helping you decide what paint colors you should use in dark rooms of your home.

Consider Using Pastels

Pastel paint colors are great for bringing light into darker rooms. If you’re trying to promote a more lively atmosphere, colors like pink and lavender can be perfect for lifting the mood. While a color like white sounds like a good idea for a dark room, considering that it reflects light, it’s not as good as it sounds because darker rooms have less light to reflect, resulting in your room looking even more dim. Pastel paint colors allow you to create a more vibrant space while still offering aesthetic appeal.

Go With Gray

Gray sounds like it would be a dreary color for a dark room, but as far as paint colors for dark rooms go, gray is actually surprisingly appealing. If you use a lighter shade of gray, you can lighten interior spaces that don’t get much natural light. This color doesn’t reflect as much light as white, but it absorbs less than black. This lets gray serve as a healthy compromise that lets you brighten your room in a more subtle way.

Go Bright, But Not White

As we said before, white can actually make darker rooms look less appealing because there’s less natural light to reflect. With that said, there are other bright paint colors you could try instead. Colors like orange, yellow, and green can all bring more life to dark rooms. Just pick the color that suits your own style best. After that, you can bring the room together with other dominant colors to bring continuity to your interior design.
